Tribute to Paul Hocking

News (International)
Paul Hocking 1956-2018

Paul Hocking, Chairman of Frank Hirth a specialist US/UK tax advisory firm and former trustee of Philanthropy Impact passed away in a tragic accident in Africa.

His devastating loss is felt deeply at Frank Hirth, by his friends, close clients and throughout the financial sector, and with the charities he supported.

Paul was an inspirational leader, a kind-hearted man and a passionate advocate of his philanthropic work which many described as his real legacy.

Paul was hugely successful professionally while devoting time, energy, imagination and humour to the causes he believed in including Riders for Health and Philanthropy Impact.

We remember Paul well and reading the tributes online it is clear that he believed in more and better philanthropy, so it is tragic to lose a believer in such sad circumstances.

Paul was recognised in The Spear’s 500 as a leading accountant for the three years since its inaugural edition in 2015, and was awarded “Private Client Accountant of the Year” in the Spears Wealth Management Awards 2017. Paul has also acted as chair of the British American Business Inc. (BABI) tax forum in London and served for two years as a member of the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC), a US Congressional tax committee reporting on matters to the Electronic Tax Administration. He was also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), an Associate of the Institute of Taxation (CTA), a US Enrolled Agent (EA), and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

At this difficult time, we extend our deepest condolences and thoughts to all his family.
