The UK faces significant challenges, such as homelessness and health issues, which the government seeks to address. Charities and social enterprises are already working on similar goals, but financial constraints limit their impact. One potential solution is to encourage greater charitable giving from the wealthiest individuals, who are reportedly willing to donate an extra £2.8 billion annually. Leveraging financial advisers to promote philanthropy could generate an additional £1.1 billion for charities each year. To maximize this, the government should mandate philanthropy training for advisers and develop a National Philanthropy Strategy to unlock further giving.
