As rising budgetary pressures force policymakers to find ways to reduce spending and increase tax revenue, a new attention has been given to proposals that reduce or eliminate the income tax decuction for charitable giving in the USA.  With charities already struggling to meet greater demans with fewer donations as a result of the recession, it is important to understand how such proposals might impact the nonprofit sector.  Twenty experts on tax policy and the nonprofit sector convened to discuss past trends in giving, the charitbale sector's current situation, and the possible effects of proposals to modify the charitable deduction.
