Philanthropy, actually, for award winner Richard Curtis

Screenwriter Richard Curtis will be honoured at this year’s BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards with the humanitarian award for his commitment to philanthropy.

The ‘kudos’ award is given to a member of the film or television industry who has devoted time and effort to philanthropy in the community, and Curtis, best known for writing hit romantic comedies such as "Four Weddings and a Funeral," "Notting Hill" and "Love Actually", will receive the award at the event in Los Angeles on November 1st in acknowledgement for the £500m raised for charity through Comic Relief which he founded in 1985.
