SSAFA the Armed Forces charity exists so that no-one in the UK Armed Forces family has to battle against life’s darkest problems alone. 

SSAFA was established in 1885 when our founder Colonel Sir James Gildea wrote a letter to The Times appealing for money and volunteers to help military families left behind at home during campaigns. 

Today, addiction, relationship breakdown, debt, homelessness, post-traumatic stress, depression and disability are all issues that can affect our members of our Armed Forces community. SSAFA is committed to helping our brave men and women overcome these problems, and rebuild their lives.
