BUSINESS VALUES, PRACTICE AND PHILANTHROPY - THE JOURNEY FROM B-CORP TO A NON-PROFIT/CHARITY-OWNED BUSINESS

With the rise in B Corp, and sustainable practices, many wealthy individuals and families are looking to embed their values both in business and philanthropy: taking an innovative and positive approach when it comes to the impact of their wealth.
This discussion, hosted by Bates Wells, will focus on how wealthy individuals and families are now looking to transition their business practices – aligning them with their values and focusing on impact. We will explore the many ways that this can be done - across the spectrum of wealth generation, including both in philanthropy and commerce.
We will consider the stories of Patagonia, Faith in Nature, and Tony’s Chocolonely and touch on innovations out there for businesses to create impact, including by changing focus from short-term financial return to long-term impact for multiple stakeholders; an approach that recognises the interdependence of people and planet with profit. We will also consider traditional corporate philanthropy – and its place in the modern world.
