An Australian former soldier who funded the restoration of the Vatican's Michelangelo frescoes has been named UK Australian of the Year for his philanthropic work.
Leaving school at fifteen to support his family, Peter Cruddas, the now successful City entrepreneur, has announced he wishes to donate £1bn to charity in his lifetime.
