New Minister for the Third Sector announced in Cabinet reshuffle

Kevin Brennan, MP for Cardiff West, has replaced Phil Hope as Minister for the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office.

Brennan previously was Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Children, Schools and Families where his responsibilities included child protection, children in care, asylum-seeking children, school food and youth sport. Brennan won the Epolitix.com Disability Charity Champion Award in 2005 for his work with the All Party Parliamentary Muscular Dystrophy Group, which he founded.

Hope has moved to the Ministry of Health, where he will be Minister of State for Social Care.

Ed Miliband has been appointed Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change within the newly created Department of Climate Change and Energy, while Liam Byrne MP replaces him as Minister for the Cabinet Office.

Barbara Follett MP has replaced Margaret Hodge as Minister for Culture, Creative Industries and Tourism. Hodge has temporarily left government on compassionate leave.

Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, has replaced Jane Kennedy as Financial Secretary to the Treasury.

Meanwhile, David Cameron has also made a few changes in the Shadow Cabinet. Greg Clark is the new Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, and Nick Hurd, MP for Ruislip Northwood and former opposition whip, has replaced Clark as Shadow Minister for Charities and the Voluntary Sector. Hurd has focused on environmental issues since his election in 2005, and serves on the Environmental Audit Committee.
