Demand grows for the ‘Ethical’-MBA

The Centre for Business Education at the Aspen Institute has released a report that says companies’ concerns with social and environmental issues has led them to value MBAs that can drive ‘ethical globalisation’.

According to the report, many companies now embrace the challenges and opportunities they find when operating across borders to show that they can have a social and environmental impact while conducting their core business. “Social and environmental objectives may seem to be at odds. Finding the most responsible pathway for action requires careful judgement and attentiveness to diverse points of view”, the report says.

MBA courses can equip students with the tools to do this through specialist and wide ranging courses: “Prevalent themes include cultural sensitivities in marketing, the economics of formal market entry, social entrepreneurship for the benefit of the developing work, and other critical questions.”

The report also signposts prospective students and employers to courses and teaching resources which are relevant to globalisation and social impact management topics.
