Over £1m was pledged to Save the Children at the 18th annual Thomson Reuters International Financing Review (IFR) gala awards dinner at the end of last month.

Senior representatives of the world’s leading investment banks pledged money to the charity via an interactive bidding board. BNP Paribas, who won the ‘Bank of the Year Award’ for 2012 topped the list of contributors with a £350,000 pledge.

Douglas Rouse, corporate partnerships director at Save the Children said: “Despite difficult economic times, people have dug deep to help save children’s lives around the world.”

The dinner, held in the Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, is Save the Children’s largest single annual fundraiser. It was attended by over 1,000 senior investment bankers.
