We are fortunate in this country. The arts sector is world class and wide-ranging – the big national institutions, the commercial sector, the cutting edge and 49,000 local arts groups involving 10 million people. New connections are being forged between health and the arts. Health is realising it has not harnessed the astonishing levels of engagement, enjoyment and fulfilment that the arts achieve. And the arts sector is responding.

How is the philanthropy sector responding to this pivotal moment? What more can be done? Many HNWIs have a strong interest in high quality arts. How can they be advised and supported on their donor journey to achieve high impact from investing in health applications of the arts?

How can philanthropists help? Trusts and foundations have support many early-stage experiments and innovations. Little has been done on developing health demand and taking programmes to scale. Without it, arts in health programmes will continue to rely on philanthropy, guaranteeing that most remain projects, never rolled-out national programmes available to all patients who could benefit.

At this event we will hear from arts in health leaders and key philanthropists engaged in this area.

Chair: Matthew Bowcock, Trustee, the Hazelhurst Trust

Speakers: Sir Vernon Ellis, Chair of a number of music & health organisations, Supporter of several arts & health initiatives; Tim Joss, Chief Executive, Aesop; others TBC.
